Team 1099 Animations
In 2009 Chris Johnson continued to increase his knowledge of 3DS Max. He created an animation done in the style of a 1950s training film. Using the challenge of "Biomimicry to solve a design challenge, Chris did his research on how deep sea creatures are able to stay down in the depths of the ocean for so long, wondering how they handle the intense pressure of the deep. Chris won his second Boston Regional Animation Award, and went on to win a Teddy for the sound track in Atlanta. Below is the 2009 animation: Here is the story boarding that Chris did during the planning process:
Chris Johnson began learning 3DSMax from Ben Luce who handed the torch over to Chris when he graduated in 2007. As a sophomore, Chris made his first animation on his own and submitted it into the 2008 Boston Regional Competition and won the Boston Regional Animation Award. That animation touched upon the problem we have of what to do with all those batteries we use in our households on a daily basis, most not getting recycled, and many getting tossed in with the rest of the garbage creating a situation of toxic waste in our country's landfills. Watch the video below: These are the story boards done for the animation. Chris received help from mentor Louise Johnson on these as it was his first animation: |
