Team 1099 Wins 2009 Boston Regional!

After our seventh season of competing, Team 1099 sent 15 of its student members along with over 30 adult mentors and supporters, plus 5 younger siblings to Boston to compete for the 2009 Boston Regional Championship. The students won their first FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) Regional against 53 teams from all over New England, California and Canada at Agganis Arena at Boston University on Saturday, March 7, 2009. This win qualified team 1099 along with their two alliance partners, Team 61 from Upton, MA and Team 190 from Worcester, MA to compete in the International Championship Competition in Atlanta, Georgia during April 16-18, 2009. 500 teams with robots from all over the United States and other countries came together to compete on six fields in the Georgia Dome, for a total of over 10,000 students were there.
The team also won the Boston Regional Animation Award, submitted by team member, Chris Johnson for the second year in a row! View the animation on our Animations page.
While the team didn't win in the Nationals, it was an amazing learning experience. The team animator, Chris Johnson did win a Teddy Award for the soundtrack of his animation.
